Black Ops 6 Beta TTK vs Other COD Games
Black Ops 6’s official release is lined up for October 2024. And right now Black Ops 6 Early Access Beta is currently underway.
We’ve been putting the game through its paces, and there’s one hot topic we need to talk about: the Time to Kill (TTK). There’s been a lot of confusion about how fast players are dying using different weapons in the game, so let’s cut through the noise and get straight to the facts.
In this article, we’ll examine the real numbers behind Black Ops 6’s TTK, compare it to other Call of Duty games, and see if the complaints about dying are true.
What the Developers Said
At the Call of Duty: Next event, the developers mentioned that killing time in Black Ops 6 is a bit quicker than in Black Ops Cold War. This led to us thinking it was super fast like in Modern Warfare games, but that’s not quite right.
Let’s Look at the Numbers
Assault Rifles
Here’s how long it takes to kill with some assault rifles:
- XM4: 300 milliseconds
- AK74: 276 milliseconds
- AS85: 320 milliseconds
On average, it’s about 299 milliseconds. That’s just a tad bit faster than Black Ops Cold War but way slower than Modern Warfare 2019 or Modern Warfare 2.
Submachine Guns (SMGs)
For SMGs, it’s pretty similar to Black Ops Cold War:
- C9 (MP5): 246 milliseconds
- Jackal PDW: 264 milliseconds
The average is 255 milliseconds, which is about the same as Modern Warfare 3 and Black Ops Cold War. It’s much slower than Modern Warfare 2019 or Modern Warfare 2.
Additional Factors
Rapid Fire
You can add rapid fire to your guns later in the game. This makes them shoot faster:
- It makes the Jackal PDW kill in 245 milliseconds instead of 264.
How Far You Are and Damage Drop-off
- Some guns, like the Jackal PDW, work well even when you’re far away.
- In Black Ops 6, you don’t do less damage for body shots like in some other games.
Hit Detection & Desync
The overall feel of hit detection has notably improved in Black Ops 6 compared to Black Ops Cold War. Enhanced hit detection may contribute to the perception of a faster TTK.
Moreover, network latency and desync issues give an impression of dying faster than expected, a recurring concern across Call of Duty launches.

Conclusion: Is the Time to Kill Really Too Fast?
The data suggests that the Time to Kill (TTK) in the Black Ops 6 Beta is not too fast. Here’s why:
- The TTK is slightly faster than Black Ops Cold War, but not dramatically quicker.
- It’s significantly slower than Modern Warfare 2019 or Modern Warfare 2.
- Assault rifles have an average TTK of 299 milliseconds, while SMGs average 261 milliseconds.
- These times are well-balanced and slightly slower for Call of Duty standards.
- Improved hit detection and possible desync issues might contribute to the feeling of dying faster.
So, based on our analysis, making the TTK even slower could result in the slowest TTK in Call of Duty history, which might negatively impact gameplay.
In short, the current TTK is well-balanced and in line with previous Black Ops titles. The perception of a “too fast” TTK may be more about feel than actual game mechanics.
