Cliff Bleszinski’s ‘LawBreakers’ Makes a Comeback with Fans’ Support
The gravity-defying first-person shooter ‘LawBreakers’, initially released in 2017 and shut down in 2018, is returning surprisingly thanks to a dedicated group of fans. This revival, known as the RELB Project, has been in the works since 2020 and aims to bring the game back to life by creating “fake” servers that the original game client can use.
The project, not affiliated with the game’s original developer, Boss Key Productions, or its publisher, Nexon, has recently held public playtests that have received positive feedback from the gaming community. One of the beta players @WormsicleTV on X.com even described it as “the most fun [they] had playing a shooter in a long time.”
Cliff Bleszinski, the game’s creator, has expressed his support for the project, sharing it on social media and encouraging fans to participate. However, the project’s team has clarified that this is not intended to take over ‘LawBreakers,’ and no new updates are planned, only focusing on making the game playable for the foreseeable future.
The ‘LawBreakers’ revival comes after a disappointing launch that saw the game struggle to find a dedicated player base in the highly competitive arena shooter genre, facing tough competition from games like Fortnite, PUBG, and Overwatch. Despite its initial struggles and subsequent server shutdown, the game was well-received by critics and players who appreciated its unique gameplay mechanics and style.
