WWE 2K24: 1.17 Update, Character Issues, and New Content Revealed
The latest patch 1.17 promised excitement with the addition of Scott Steiner, but instead of using it, we’re stuck with technical issues that leave you pinned to the loading screen or random crashes.
“Online stability improvements” feel like empty promises when your game crashes out at the first launch. And now, Scott Steiner’s character is caught in a situation where we cannot unlock this fan-favorite wrestler.

WWE 2K24 Patch 1.17: Fixes and Steiner’s Problematic Debut
2K released Patch 1.17 on Wednesday, mainly to fix stability issues. The update was supposed to improve online matches and overall game stability. However, players were unhappy that the patch didn’t fix many ongoing gameplay problems.
It was later revealed that the main purpose of Patch 1.17 was to add Scott Steiner as an unlockable character. Unfortunately, even the addition of Steiner’s character had serious bugs.
Scott Steiner Character Problems
Players who unlocked Scott Steiner noticed that his character was missing important features. He had no entrance animations, videos, or move sets. Worse, trying to customize his entrance or moves caused the game to crash, making Steiner unusable in his default form.
2K quietly removed the Scott Steiner event soon after it started. We are now waiting for a fix, expected in the upcoming Patch 1.18 update.
New WWE 2K24 DLC Content
The game is getting new downloadable content, including a unique tag team entrance for the Kabuki Warriors. Unlike many team entrances that reuse individual moves, this one features new animations for both Kairi Sane and Asuka. TBH, I loved the attention to detail in this new entrance.
The Global Superstars DLC pack will launch next week with Patch 1.18. It will add 75 new moves and taunts, plus a new weapon: K.O.’s Apple. This fun item lets players watch Carlito bite an apple and spit it at opponents or throw it as a projectile.
MyFaction Updates
For MyFaction mode players, the Global Superstars DLC includes new high-rated character cards. Players who buy the DLC will get special cards for new wrestlers like Carleo, Dragon Lee, and Jade Cargill.
A new code, “Going Global,” has been added. Using this code gives players access to three special cards featuring legendary wrestlers:
- British Bulldog
- Andre the Giant
- Eddie Guerrero
Looking Ahead to WWE 2K25
We are already talking about possible new wrestlers for next year’s game, WWE 2K25. There are rumors that Armando Estrada and Kelly Kelly might be added to the game’s roster.
