Steam vs Ubisoft Connect: AC Mirage Performance on Steam Deck
With Ubisoft recently releasing AC Mirage on Steam, and we were curious how it compares to the Ubisoft Connect version.
So, in this article, Ill compare both AC Mirage’s performance for both the versions on Steam Deck. Let’s find out together –
How We Tested
We used two Steam Deck OLEDs to compare both versions. Here’s what we did:
- Set everything to the lowest quality.
- Turned on HDR.
- Didn’t change anything else on the Steam Decks.
We started with the game’s built-in test tool, then played the game to double-check our findings.
What We Found
The numbers don’t lie:
Ubisoft Connect Version:
- Average FPS: 48
- Lowest FPS: 10
- Highest FPS: 90
Steam Version:
- Average FPS: 53
- Lowest FPS: 20
- Highest FPS: 124
As you can see, the Steam version runs about 10% faster on average. It also doesn’t drop as low or jump as high, which means a smoother experience for you.
More Interesting Stuff
- The Ubisoft Connect version uses more of your Steam Deck’s power and memory.
- The Steam version uses a bit more video memory.
- Your battery lasts a little longer with the Steam version.
- Both versions have some graphic glitches, but that’s the game itself, not how you’re playing it.
How It Feels to Play
During actual gameplay, starting from the opening cutscene, the Ubisoft Connect version showed a more erratic frame rate.
While this wasn’t a huge issue in the cutscene, it became more apparent during regular gameplay. The Steam version consistently maintained frame rates above 40 FPS, whereas the Ubisoft Connect version experienced more frequent drops below 40 FPS, causing noticeable stutters.
Wrapping Up
Right now, Mirage is half-price on Steam until October 24th. If you’re thinking about getting it for your Steam Deck, we’d say go for the Steam version. Here’s why:
- It runs faster
- It doesn’t stutter as much
- It uses less memory
- Your battery lasts a bit longer
All of this means you’ll probably have a better time playing on your Steam Deck.
We hope this helps you decide which version to get! If you found this useful, don’t forget to share it with others who might find this comparison helpful.
