Monthly Gacha Game Revenue Analysis – October 2024
In this latest edition of our Gacha Game Revenue Analysis, we check out their performance in October 2024.
The Gacha game world has seen big changes, with some top games losing players while others stay strong or get more popular.
Big Losses and Survivors
Girls’ Frontline (China): Once called “The Cockroach” for being tough to kill, this game hit a big problem when its servers had issues because of publisher troubles. They’re looking for a new publisher, which makes people worry about the game’s future.
Final Fantasy Brave Exvius (FFBE): This old favorite isn’t making much money or excitement anymore.
Higan Arland: Surprisingly still running, but only making $10,000, which is barely enough to keep the lights on and pay workers.
Surprise Performers
Alchemy Stars: Even though times are tough, this game is hanging in there when others are falling.
Octopath Traveler: Keeps going strong, with lots of people still playing, even if it’s not growing much.
Neural Cloud (Many Regions): This game is surviving, showing up in charts for different areas, thanks to loyal players keeping it alive.
Big Drops
Blue Archive: Once doubled its worldwide money, but recent numbers show it’s going down, showing how quickly Gacha game success can change.
Girls’ Frontline 2: People are excited for its worldwide release in December, even though it’s not doing well in other places.
Path to Nowhere: Showing a big drop, with performance varying a lot in different areas.
Mixed Results and Surprise Hits
AFK Arena, Epic Seven: These games have gone up a bit or stayed the same in some areas but dropped in others.
Tower of Fantasy Falling: Staying steady overall, but dropping in individual areas.
Sword of Convallaria: A close look at ‘Sword of Convallaria,’ especially in the (SE) and (CN) areas, shows big drops in money, going from 550k to 275k. Other areas are dropping too, but not as much. Worldwide, it went from over 1.1 million to 800k even though people were excited about new characters.
Big Picture – Worldwide Trends and Rankings
Looking at total money across all areas, games like Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail, and Fate/Grand Order are still on top. But newer or niche favorites are having trouble keeping players or getting new downloads:
Nikke: Losing a lot of money.
Uma Musume Pretty Derby: Surprisingly dropping a lot even though it used to be strong.
Seven Deadly Sins: Staying steady while others are dropping.
How This Affects Players
Sword of Convallaria: Having big problems, losing more than half its players from September to October. This shows up in Steam charts where the most players at one time dropped a lot. Even with excitement, the average number of players has been going down steadily, showing it needs big changes.
Moving Forward: Plans to Get Better
To fight these tough times, games need new stuff for long-time players to do, more ways to compete against other players, or team vs. team events to keep players interested and bring back old ones.
Wrap-up:
As we look past all the bad news, it’s clear that the Gacha game market has changed a lot. Each game has to keep changing to keep players interested and keep making money.
The industry is always changing, with sudden rises and falls, and November looks just as tough for many of these games.
