Sony Music Entertainment Japan, Aniplex, and Pocketpair Establish Palworld Entertainment Joint Venture
Sony Music Entertainment Japan, Aniplex(owned by Sony Group), and Pocketpair have announced the establishment of Palworld Entertainment, a joint venture to expand the reach of the popular Palworld game and its associated intellectual property. The announcement was made in a joint release by all three companies on July 10, 2024.
The newly formed Palworld Entertainment will be responsible for developing the reach of the intellectual property and for expanding commercial business endeavors, including the global licensing and merchandising activities associated with “Palworld.”

The joint venture will begin its efforts with the development of exclusive merchandise based on the game, which will debut and sell at the Pocketpair booth during “Bilibili World 2024” in Shanghai, China, starting July 12, 2024. The merchandise will also be available for pre-order at Aniplex and its subsidiaries, Aniplex of America and Aniplex Shanghai, with more detailed information to be provided later.
Palworld, developed by Pocketpair, is an online survival game that allows players to capture and use creatures called Pals for various survival tasks. The game has been a commercial success, selling over 25 million copies across Steam and Xbox platforms as of February 2024. It was released in Early Access on January 19, 2024, and has since seen significant updates, including a new update revealed during Summer Game Fest 2024.
